"ARTS & TECHNOLOGY"

Playground activities are often unforgettable.

Drawings in the air, on the surface of water, in the sand, on the walls and on pieces of white paper.

Lines, forms, colours, light or obscurity, creative powers of one's own energy on different occasions create a wide variety of impressions. They act like an impulse which makes the imagination develop further.

All those associations provoke internal monologue, which evolves a need for communication, interactivity and acts that are constructive.

There are many various contexts existing in which humans search for themselves.

The new proposition merging the art and the technology is based on an explporation of the unique contexts.

The first work of art, being a result of a non-official contact of two people: a Polish artist, Piotr Osuszkiewicz and a Belgian engineer, Xavier Looze, was presented twice: on the European Business Summit, in June 2002 and in the Palais de Justice, in September 2002.

The main artistic idea of the Polish-Belgian cooperation was to create and shape an interactive sound space, which could be applied to both outdoor and indoor architecture.

This project may also play an important role as a medium generating information, in which visual effects are essential as well as its relaxing role.

In the work's practical dimension the interaction between the light, the shadows and the movements creates different sound compositions.

According to the light's intensity, the shadow's surface and individual imagination unique sound units are composed and may have more or less organised melodic structutre.

The project consists of simple, repetitive electronic modules which make it adaptable in in a wide range of architectural spaces.

This latest realisation was ment to highlight the need and possiblilities of a new interdisciplinary dialogue and above all to signal the importance of the mutual relations: business- culture.

The essence of this work is the need of new creative resarches alongside their utility and co-existence in our reality.
